Wi-Fi Design Consultant

We are an international premium consulting company looking for a Senior Consultant I’ to join our team. As a Wireless Design Consultant, your responsibilities are to complete system designs and planning for indoor and outdoor wireless (Wi-Fi) projects including developing coverage and capacity solutions to deliver superior customer experiences for a variety of locations. Solutions will include location assessment, requirements gathering, predictive RF design, technology selection, implementation, integration coordination, support, and post-implementation validation.


Responsibilities

  • Strong technical knowledge of Wi-Fi 802.11 standards (including the latest 802.11ax and its extensions)
  • Develop predictive Wi-Fi coverage maps using specialized software, including cochannel interference maps
  • Perform site surveys to evaluate the location and identify requirements for system design, including existing Wi-Fi coverage collection and mapping to floor plans
  • Model indoor propagation and capacity to determine antenna placement and equipment needs
  • Prepare detailed design reports including all required details to assist integrators in installing a fully functional system in different types of buildings
  • Assist in the development of the system equipment and materials list
  • Assist with system deployment and commissioning as necessary. Act as a subject matter expert SME to assist the integrators and deployment teams in answering any ‘request for information RFIs’ or field questions/observations
  • Collect data for post-deployment acceptance testing to ensure requirements are met and the system met all design criteria. Conduct validations surveys to ensure design parameters are met, or recommend remediation plans if gaps exist
  • Explore new technologies, and prepare comparisons for features, cost-benefit analysis, and recommendations to clients based on their individual needs and applications
  • Conduct surveys for existing sites to identify issues with the coverage, roaming, latency, or any other end user’s observed problems. Able to provide technical write-ups and reports to help identify root causes and provide recommendations for solutions and remediations

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position has training responsibilities. Sr. Consultants are responsible for training and development of team members assigned to projects they are supporting or managing
  • Sr. Consultants may be asked to perform additional assignments and responsibilities as assumed or requested by management

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Senior Consultants work a standard work week but may be required to work early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends to monitor project activities and participate in cutovers or other project efforts.


Travel

With the continued impact of COVID-19 and social distancing measures, Thinkbox Technology Group fully supports remote work until COVID-19 mandates are lifted. This position may require 25% of Travel under the safety measures of the COVID-19 impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electronics Engineering, or Communication Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of wireless telecommunications and RF engineering design and deployment experience
  • Experience with Wi-Fi 802.11 standards and deployment of large-scale Wi-Fi network, integration, and optimization experience
  • At least 2 years of experience performing design for indoor networks using AirMagnet Pro. Alternative experience is with the Ekahau tool
  • Knowledge and experience with Wi-Fi vendors, e.g., Cisco, Aruba, and others
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely, in writing and verbally
  • Ability to investigate and solve complex problems and implement related work improvements with cross-functional team members
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings
  • Ability to use basic office applications: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook/Email. Solid experience with Word is required to document findings and create professional-looking reports
