The State of New Hampshire, Department of Information Technology, Agency Software Division – Dept of Transportation has a full time vacancy for a Systems Development Specialist VI.

SCOPE OF WORK : To act as one of the lead developers for the data warehouse. To develop and maintain data extraction, transformation, and load processing, data sharing, and complex dynamic reporting. To perform systems analysis and functional design, propose/evaluate alternative designs, make design recommendations and identify impacts to existing systems.


Designs, creates, modifies, and maintains data warehouse loads from various source systems. Determines and implements appropriate data feeds from data warehouse to other systems with knowledge of data warehouse concepts, technology, tools, and infrastructure.

Designs, defines, and creates database structures as related to staging and target data warehouse objects to satisfy business requirements.

Gathers requirements, designs, and creates automated business processes for various business areas throughout the supported agency.

Designs, creates, modifies, and maintains data integrations between systems using common system integration methods and technologies.

Prepares middleware architecture deliverables in accordance with the best practices . Makes technical recommendations for improving system design and performance.

Assists data warehouse manager with development of standards and organization of Enterprise Reporting environment. Designs and develops reports and dashboards. Trains users in the use of ad hoc reporting tools.

Coordinates with DoIT and/or implementation vendors on technical requirements relating to the data warehouse.

Mentors team members on programming standards, techniques, performance levels, and best practices.

Creates test plans, prepares test data, schedules testing with end users, and implements testing of new or updated systems.

Writes and maintains support and technical documentation, including user guides, training materials and process diagrams that adhere to industry standards.


Education : Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with at least fifteen (15) credit hours in the field of computer sciences. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Six years’ experience as a computer programmer or systems analyst associated with a late generation medium or large scale on-line computer systems or computer networks similar to the recruiting agency; at least three years of which shall have been involved with systems analysis. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

License/Certification: Must be eligible to hold a valid New Hampshire driver’s license and have access to transportation for use in statewide travel.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and department standard enterprise database solutions is required. Working knowledge of relational and dimensional database modeling required. Six years’ experience in software development using various software and development tools with the following preferred: Oracle PL/SQL, Oracle Warehousing Software, Oracle Business Process Management, Oracle Reports/Publisher, Oracle Business Intelligence, other BI/Reporting tools on MS Windows operating systems. Knowledge in common system integration methods and technologies such as Web services, SOAP, REST, XML Schema Definition (XSD), Extensible Markup Language (XML) and experience working with APIs from external systems.
