Job Description :

This position will be responsible for reading through child abuse hotline reports sent to the Children’s Advocacy Center each day. This person will determine which reports meet our case critieria (sexual abuse, severe physical abuse, severe neglect, child witnesses to violent crimes) and reaching out to the appropriate agencies to discuss whether or not a child should be brought into the Children’s Advocacy Center to receive a coordinated multi-discipinary team response. This typically means coordinating information with a Crimes Against Children Detective, Child Protective Investigators, Prosecutors and Juvenile Services. These are the typical agencies that would be involved with setting a child up to come to the Center for a Forensic Interview and all the advocacy services; such as trauma assessments, personal advocacy, assistance with crime victims compensation and therapy.

This position will advocate for children that meet case criteria to ensure they receive the services that will provide them justice, hope and healing. This person will be building relationships and scheduling with approximately 21 agencies across Johnson County. We are looking for a person of extreme integrity and professionalism, who will be a team player, adhere to team protocols and agency policies. This is extremely confidential information regarding children who have allegedly been victimized. Candidate must pass a criminal, child abuse and national sex offender registry check before being qualifed for employment.

Other responsibilities of this staff include entering all Johnson County Intakes into our case tracking system and securing case updates from all agencies and inputting them into a monthly case staffing form for the team. The Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) of the Center meet in their entirety once a month. Each month they will staff and discuss progress and challenges on cases with the entire team. At this meeting the case staffing form prepared by this person will be what guides the meeting.

In addition to these duties, this staff person will also be expected to perform other duties related to the non-profit when the needs arise, such as assisting families when they arrive in the lobby, preparing for and working at special events, assisting with community awareness and prevention, and always setting a positive example for the families we serve and their co-workers.
