Job Summary
This position is for Swing or Graveyard shift (see work schedule) in our Network Operations Center supporting UETN connected customers. This position is primarily focused on network monitoring, management, and maintenance.

Day to day work includes performing maintenance and troubleshooting of the UETN backbone and customer connected networks. It includes responding to alerts generated in monitoring tools, respond and manage incidents and coordinate repairs and service with our engineers, vendors, telecoms, and customers.

Participation in improvement projects and tasks to increase our network capabilities and services is also part of the responsibilities.

: Utah Education and Telehealth Network provides network and IT Solutions for Educational institutions (Higher Education, K12, Libraries and Other (Zoo, Aquarium)) throughout Utah. This position is integral in providing systems and services to all UETN Stakeholders. UETN is housed on the University of Utah campus in the Eccles Broadcast Center, UETN employees are U of U staff and received all of the same benefits listed below.

Perform duties associated with the management, monitoring, and maintenance of the UETN network. These duties include but are not limited to

  • Assisting connected customers with network related issues or outages.
  • Identify and troubleshoot network related issues through resolution.
  • Performing preventative maintenance and support for our statewide network.
  • Learn and grow your expertise on a large, complicated, and state of the art network.
  • Ability to self-manage time and priorities based on work requirement guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related area or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). 4-6 years of experience in network administration or related area.

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

  • Experience with network monitoring tools and services
  • CCNA and/or CCNP Certification
  • Self-motivated and disciplined
