Job Description :

Shields Manufacturing is looking for an Inspection Supervisor to be responsible for managing and developing the Inspection Team and their outcomes. This includes liaising with the NPI team and providing guidance on inspection methodology and quality control. The Inspection Supervisor provides problem-solving/troubleshooting and process improvement facilitation for the Inspection Team.

Essential Duties:

  • Manage the assignment of work amongst the quality inspectors and calibration tech, ensuring quality, on-time shipments, and excellent customer satisfaction
  • Drive improvements to existing processes and methodologies with a constant focus on continuous improvement
  • Create and review CMM programs
  • Determine inspection methodology and quality control practices
  • Ensure creation of quality plans by part number and/or part family
  • Train personnel on inspection and CMM programming
  • Develop processes and procedures for the Inspection Team
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineers and Production Managers on quality processes
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams in resolution of root cause and correction activities including 8Ds


  • Minimum 5 years of experience serving as a quality inspector in a tight tolerance production environment utilizing tools such as calipers, micrometers, gages, pins, profilometers, CMMs, viewing systems
  • Functional understanding of engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
  • Demonstrated skills identifying, measuring, and managing product Key Characteristics
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) guidelines and practices
  • Demonstrated proficiency in CMM programming
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to demonstrate attention to detail in completing assignments and in communicating to internal and external representatives
  • Confident and proficient communication with internal customers
  • Detail oriented, with exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to identify complex problems and related information to develop and evaluate options/implement solutions
  • Ability to motivate, develop, and direct employees
  • Willingness to lead and take on responsibilities and challenges
