Position Description

Logistics Operations Americas is part of GTO and has approximately 1,000 employees in more than 20 locations within the region. Our job is to design, handle and optimize the supply chain for all Volvo Group brands. The scope for Logistics Services includes making sure material is delivered to the production facilities, packaging is available, vehicles are distributed to the dealers, and that management of material, warehouses and distribution ensures the availability of parts everywhere in the world. We make sure all logistics services are delivered with world class operational excellence.

The Inbound Clerical position reports to the Inbound Administration Supervisor of the CDC and is responsible for coordinating inbound transport to the CDC, as well as the reverse logistics flow.


  • Monitor internal and external supplier ASN execution within the Volvo Group logistic networks (SAP,DLX,LHELP,SPM, SPED)
  • Trouble-shoot and resolve inbound ASN IDOC and legacy system validation errors when goods are pending receipt at the warehouse including bar code label / ASN matching
  • Trouble-shoot and resolve ASN container issues
  • Create manual ASN’s as required.
  • Escalate system requests / defects to the appropriate maintenance group
  • Communicate supplier discrepancies and issues with the Supplier Relations Specialist
  • Provide daily support as the single point of contact for warehouse personnel
  • Hands on knowledge of warehouse dock to stock process
  • Work effectively with multi-functional teams in a global organization
  • Resolve any inbound issues with the unloaders
  • Update pack configurations
  • Assist with gathering dimensional data for new inbound items
  • Perform other assignments as requested by management

Minimum Education and Experience

  • 2 to 5 years relevant experience preferred in a similar function in a logistics or distribution company
  • Willingness to learn SAP, DLX, LHELP, SPM, SPED
  • Working Knowledge of EDI utilities (Message Tracker)
  • Working knowledge of SPED (container loads for VCE)
  • Working knowledge of LHELP Procurement and Warehouse menu’s
  • Working knowledge of the Volvo Bar Code Label requirements
  • Proficient skill in analysis, problem solving and trouble shooting
  • Work effectively with multi-functional teams in a global organization
  • Proven experience setting priorities and working independently


  • Good COMMUNICATION skills and ability to work under minimal amount of supervision
  • INITIATIVE & DRIVE: Taking action in the absence of specific instructions or in the absence of a specific requirement, taking reasonable risks to achieve results, and persevering when challenged
  • Good ANALYTICAL skills and PROBLEM SOLVING attitude
  • Very good NEGOTIATION skills in order to improve the service provided by suppliers and carriers
  • Good skills in working with MS Office programs, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc. and ability to learn new IT applications applicable for the role
