*Position Summary*
The Grant Writer is a part of Aeon’s Advancement Team. This team is responsible for driving revenue for the organization and managing its brand.
Under the supervision of the Grants Manager, the Grant Writer will research, write, and edit grant proposals and program-related investments to secure funding from both private and public sources to support general operations, housing development, and supportive services (and other areas of Aeon’s work, as relevant). The Grant Writer will also track the progress of submissions, ensure all relevant documentation is completed, and write interim and final progress reports to funders as required.

_Essential functions include, but are not limited to: _

  • Writing and Reporting: Work collaboratively across the organization to understand funding needs and develop content to create the best possible case for support. Own responsibilities of assigned foundation, corporation, and public proposals and reports on grants calendar with exceptional attention to detail to maintain critical timelines to ensure applications and reports are submitted in a timely manner. Write and submit organizational pieces, such as award nominations and Annual State Registrations.
  • Grant Management: Be proactive and proficient in managing the entire grant submission process. This includes: entering grants and updates into Salesforce; conducting appropriate follow up; updating grants calendar; ensuring all verbiage for applications, organization numbers, and grants attachments are up to date; and more.
  • Grant Research and Stewardship: Stay up to date on industry and regional trends in housing and proactively explore new funding opportunities to develop new sources of support and increase revenue. Proactively seek out new sources of public funding to support Aeon’s work. Work collaboratively with Advancement team to identify potential new funding sources and determine appropriate ways to begin funding relationships, including submitting letters of intent, attending prospect meetings, etc. Eagerness to explore creative new options for funding is a critical aspect of this role.
  • Advancement Team Activities: Participate as an active member of the Advancement Team, including supporting other activities as needed, including special events, donor communications, etc. Actively develop and maintain relationships to help recruit for other Advancement Team positions. Represent Aeon at public events. Pursue professional development activities to broaden and enhance skill set.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of writing, fundraising experience, and/or relevant experience required, with experience in grant writing strongly preferred. Eagerness to learn and grow in a professional grants role.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Strong organization and planning skills; ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Strong ability to engage in interpersonal interactions that are culturally responsive, ensuring consideration for differing needs and expectations.
  • Strong natural ability for building relationships. Interest in actively interacting with supporters, likable demeanor, and ability to make good first impressions. Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Sense of ownership, accountability, and a deep passion for the mission and values of Aeon.
  • Must have a commitment to learning and participating in Aeon’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Salesforce a plus.
  • This position can be remote; however, applicants who reside in or near the St. Paul/Minneapolis area are strongly preferred.

Compensation
This full time, salaried position pays between $52,000 and $60,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications. Aeon’s comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees includes: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, retirement plan, paid time off and an employee assistance program.
