Job Description :

Riggins Company located in Hampton, VA, is looking for first class fitters and welders to join our growing and exciting organization. We are a custom steel fabricator specializing in the design and fabrication of heat exchangers, pressure vessels and tanks. Our customers are Commerical, Shipyard, Government as well as in the Petrochemical Industry. Riggins Company is “Custom to the Core”. Willing to traveling. We welcome traveling tradesman and will pay up to $100.00 a day for perdiem. (2nd Shift)

The successful candidate must able to:

• Basic math is needed due to the technological needs of our projects.
• The ability to read and understand blueprints, manuals, and specifications to perform their job.
• Metal fabricators require strength to lift heavy objects during the fabrication/assembly process.
• The ability to be on your feet for long periods of time often doing repetitive motions.
• Align and fit parts per specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.
• Hammer, chip, and grind workpieces in order to cut, bend, and straighten metal.
• Lay out and examine metal stock or workpieces to be processed in order to ensure that specifications are met.
• Locate and mark workpiece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications.
• Mark reference points onto floors or face blocks and transpose them to workpieces, using umarkets.com measuring devices, squares, chalk, and soapstone.
• Move parts into position, manually or by using hoists, forklifts and cranes.
• Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools.
• Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, and/or bolt straps, or bolt parts in position for welding or mechanical attachment.
• Preheat workpieces to make them malleable using hand torches.
• Remove high spots and cut bevels, using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches.Read and comprehend blueprints, sketches and templates.
• Layout and fabricated metal structural parts, such as plate or pipe.
• Understands and acts upon instructions.
• Able to pass weld test
