Due to growth, ARMI Contractors is looking for an experienced Design Engineers to join their team located in the Fayetteville, AR area.

If you have the following, this is a career you need to explore:

  • 5 years or more of design engineering experience in the food processing industry

  • Have a blue-collar approach when performing engineering & design for internal and external customers
  • Travel to customer locations on each project to field verify and obtain all information required to accurately design the new equipment required. Support the field installation team onsite during the equipment installation, equipment testing, and production start up to solve fitment issues, equipment short comings, transfer issues, etc.
  • Always strive to complete the entire design even when multiple equipment identifiers are involved to allow the manufacturer to see the entire project, bulk purchase components, optimize metal utilization, and maximize schedule opportunities.
  • Design equipment beyond the customer’s expectations and always add features that exceed the typical industry standard to set the product design and functionality apart from competitors
  • Use and follow ARMI’s engineering platform and understand all departmental standards to incorporate them into designs. The designer to work with the sales engineer to incorporate all special customer specifications that over-ride ARMI hardware standards.
  • Learn the 3rd party fabricator’s equipment inventory, capacities, and tooling that will be used to construct the design.
  • Responsible to spend sufficient time in the field investigating the jobsite and gathering critical dimensional data to eliminate installation issues.
  • The installation drawings to include a 3D model of the overall project with a referenced benchmark in the customer’s facility. The benchmark to be used for dimensioning of equipment location. The 3D model to always include the most upstream and or downstream connecting equipment. A successful set on installation drawings will also include plan, elevation, and section views of any potential installation interferences such as trench drains, walls, building columns, and overhead obstructions
  • The role is responsible to correct all design issues that are brought to the surface during the fabrication and or installation phases to ensure job files match the final delivered product for future reference. This includes the appropriate action required to suffice any CIDs for continuous improvement.
  • This role is responsible for design processing equipment, conveyors, plant support equipment, structural platforms, stairways, ladders, hangers, supports, etc., for fabrication, installation, and or sales documentation
  • Follow hardware manufacturer design guidelines and utilize their applications engineers to approve the design prior to release to manufacturing
  • Generate an owner’s parts manual for each piece of equipment that includes exploded views of sub-assemblies and the full assembly with numerical balloons tied to the bill of materials. Provide the owner’s parts manual to the sales engineer and save a copy in the job file.
  • Owner’s parts manual to allow customer to identify every component by using description and component number for parts sales purposes.
  • Review designs prior to release to ensure full OSHA safety compliance including incorporation of the electrical safety interlocks, safety hazard stickers, e-stops, disconnect switches, etc.
  • The design of equipment with motors to have an ARMI serial number tag included in the design complete with location.
  • Takes ownership of all assigned projects/tasks and make extra effort to exceed internal and external customer expectations including timelines.
  • Recognize the importance of quickly completing the design phase to allow maximum time for all downstream processes such as procurement, fabrication, test, revisions, deliver, install, and start up the equipment and or project.
  • Answer phone and provides technical support after hours as needed especially for fabrication or installation teams
  • Contact the supplier’s application engineers and utilize their specialized support when designing equipment that utilizes linear actuators, linear bearings, profiled drum motors, special belting, gear boxes, food plant induction motors, servo drives, etc.
  • Uses belt manufacturers design guideline and/or gets belt manufacturers technical support when designing conveyors
  • Strive to design to a higher standard of excellence than our competitors to ensure we are exceeding internal and external customer’s expectations
  • Travel up to 50%
