Hanwha, one of the largest multi-divisional corporations in South Korea, has acquired Cimarron Composites, Inc. of Huntsville. As a result, the company will be building a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility right here in Opelika, AL. The Calibration Technician will be responsible for the calibration, routine inspection, maintenance and repair of various types of measuring/monitoring equipment. In addition, this role is responsible for monitoring/inspecting incoming materials.

Cimarron designs, manufactures, and tests composite pressure vessels for a variety of aerospace and industrial uses – including rockets, submersibles, CNG tube trailers, ultra-high pressure tanks for hydrogen filling stations, and individual tanks for hydrogen powered vehicles.

We’re looking for a uniquely talented and experienced individual to fill the Calibration Technician role:


  • Inspect incoming raw materials to ensure consistency, integrity and compliance per quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform required inspections in the manufacturing facility to resolve quality issues prior to use in manufacturing.
  • Report all issues and concerns as documented within the Quality Management System.
  • Review and interprets material drawings when required.
  • Define, manage and coordinate internal and external tasks related to the calibration of measuring and monitoring equipment.
  • Manage equipment calibration by external entities.
  • Review and validate equipment calibration reports.
  • Establish and maintain the calibrated procedures for internally calibrated equipment.
  • Determine the calibration intervals for the equipment.
  • Analyze the modification of calibration intervals as necessary.
  • Register all documentation associated with the equipment subject in calibration software.
  • Remove from use and / or identify equipment that is pending calibration.


  • HS Diploma, plus min 1 yr. quality dept experience to include measuring equipment calibration in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
  • Experience with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality standards preferred.
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as gauges, meters, and calipers. Computer literate.
  • Confident, able to cope with pressure, self-motivated individual and team player.
  • Analytical, logical thought process and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various tasks/adjustments to schedules.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to review detailed drawings of materials and determine critical to quality key characteristics.
  • SPC data collection and reporting experience.
  • Experienced with internal auditing. Maintains or working to ASQ certification.
  • Successful experience working in a matrix organization.
  • Experience maintaining the calibration records for measurement devices, test equipment and tooling.
  • Prior problem solving and root cause analysis work experience.
