Job Description :

Accurate and timely submission of charges for the Emergency Department. Analysis and problem solving of charge issues with correct and complete closure. Requires knowledge of and skill in reviewing and applying patient medical record documentation and E/M codes and procedure codes accurately and timely based upon provider and staff documentation for the Emergency Department. Communicates with physicians, providers, and staff regarding documentation requirements and collaborates with others regarding documentation and coding requirements.


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Coding certification highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of ICD and CPT codes.
  • Technically competent and fluent knowledge in navigation of the electronic health record.
  • Ability to work independently and productively with minimal guidance and without direct supervision.
  • Must be highly detail oriented, have the ability to remain focused with good organization, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills and ability to solve problems appropriately using job knowledge and current policies and procedures.
  • 3 years data entry experience. Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills, computer literate, 10-key by touch.
  • Prefer Medical Charge Entry experience/CBO billing experience.
